We’re having a party day in the sun (Hurricane Irene has respectfully declined an invitation).

Come celebrate CommUNITY with us on Saturday at our CommUNITY Fair – Feria de ComUNIDAD, 1pm to 4pm at the corner of Merritt Mill Rd. and Franklin St. in Carrboro/Chapel Hill.

We’ll be hosting this event along with Captain Poncho’s Tacos, whose truck will be there dishing out Mexico City style cuisine. The Chirba Chirba Dumpling truck will also be there making its Carrboro debut with authentic dumplings. And Bikescream! will pedal in with homemade, local ice cream sandwiches.

It’s a day of fun for the entire family. (No really, we mean it.) DJ Kevin Esprella will be spinning Latin music and Cackalack Thunder will roar through with their activist drum corps from Greensboro.

We’ll also be hosting a silent skills and creative auction, with all proceeds going to the NC DREAM Team. Bid on quality, professional services and products, like music, dance and swimming lessons, cooking classes at Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe, artwork and photo prints by Durty Durham Art Collective and an official Mexico futbol jersey from Eurosport.

Thanks to all of our friends above who have graciously donated their time, energy and even proceeds to make this event happen. They positively enhance our community every day, and this event helps us raise the funds to continue working in our communities across the state.

Ah yes, we’re also dancing a jig the night before at our International Party Fundraiser at Talulla’s. Come play! We need your support now more than ever.
