Right now is a tough time for those who want justice of any kind–not just for immigrants. Here in Raleigh, North Carolina, the integrated public school system–which has a 94.5% satisfaction rate among its students’ parents–is about to be re-segregated through a “neighborhood schools” program backed by national Tea Party groups. Rev. Dr. William Barber, the President of the North Carolina conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, has led the charge against this policy and begun a coalition called the Historic Thousands on Jones Street, to fight back injustice on all fronts.

As a partner in the HK on J Coalition, we were proud to join the greater cause for justice this year with the NAACP. And of course, we in the NC DREAM Team couldn’t be more proud of Loida, who speaks with the full force of her humanity. This video of her speaking before thousands at the fifth annual HK on J rally in Raleigh should be an inspiration to us all.
