The Sun News picked up the hunger strike from the Associated Press.

Change.org has reposted our Ten Ways to Take Action section.

A follow-up piece ran today in the Durham Herald-Sun. The story that ran last week is here.

“Justin Valas, an organizer with the N.C. DREAM Team, a group of young illegal immigrants who came to the United States with their parents when they were kids, said Wednesday they are still conducting their hunger strike in downtown Raleigh.”

It should be noted that the DREAM Team consists of the hunger strikers and their supporters, so to say that they are a group of “young illegal immigrants” is wrong because members like Justin (mentioned here) is an American citizen.

A version of the N&O story ran the same day in the Charlotte Observer, titled “Immigrant hunger strike fails to convince Hagan.”
